Burton Ale Trail September 2023

When and where is the next Burton Ale Trail taking place?
The event will be held between Thursday 7th and Sunday 10th September 2023 in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.

How many Burton Ale Trails have there been?
This will be the fifth event.

What type of event is this?
It is a Beer Festival but with a difference; instead of being held in one place it will be split between eleven different venues.

Is this a CAMRA Beer Festival?
No it is an independent venture but it will appeal to CAMRA members.

Is this a replacement for the yearly CAMRA Beer Festival at the Town Hall?
Absolutely not!

Which venues are taking part?
In alphabetical order: Beeropolis, Brews of the World, Burton Bridge Inn, Constitutional Club, Coopers Tavern, Devonshire Arms, The Dog, The Last Heretic, The Roebuck Inn, The Old Royal Oak and The Weighbridge Inn.

What are the opening times?
Each venue will be organising their own part of the Burton Ale Trail so opening times will vary. These will be revealed in due course.

What can I expect from Burton Ale Trail?
Lots of beer, food, music and fun.

Can I buy a t-shirt?
Yes, we will be taking orders in a few weeks time.

Will there be any (insert your favourite style of beer) to be had?
The venues are currently putting together their beer lists, however unless your drink of choice is something obscure like a Milk Stout Sour White IPA then there should be something for you. The venues range from those that serve traditional Cask Ales to others that have Craft Keg and European lagers on tap.

What or who is The Beertonian?
The Beertonian is the beer blog of Burton upon Trent Brewing Historian Ian Webster, it is proudly sponsoring Burton Ale Trail. Ian is from Burton and he has written a couple of books about the brewing history of the town, he publishes on The Beertonian when he gets time, you can read the other articles here

Will there be other drinks available?
Although this is an Ale Trail, other drinks will be available. A number of the venues do a decent line in cider, lager, gins, fruit wines etc.

Where’s good to eat in Burton?
There are plenty of places including some upmarket wine bars, excellent curry houses as well as chip shops etc.

How close are the pubs to the Railway Station?
Very, within five minutes walk you can be at five venues, the rest aren’t too far away.

Could you do one massive pub crawl?
Yes but eleven pints may be dangerous in one day, stick to halves.
